I wrote my essay collection "Crazy, Sick, Demented" in Arabic, this collection focuses on the patriarchal Kuwaiti culture, and how women in Kuwait experience sexism and misogyny on a daily basis. If you'd like to read the collection, click this link: Crazy. Sick. Demented
I was thrilled to be asked by artist and director of Kaiser Studios Tanya Kaiser to speak about the important role art plays in resistance on May 29th 2025.
I had the opportunity to exhibit my paintings at Negative Space Art Gallery from March 29th to April 20th 2025. It was a wonderful experience, Gadi Zamir who is an artist, and the owner and curator of Negative Space is so generous, he lets artists exhibit and never charges them a commission for the art they sell at his gallery. Here's the art show poster, and images of the paintings I sold:
I was so grateful to Charlita Anderson White for inviting me to lead a playwriting workshop for The Outside Circle Theatre Group, on April 12th 2025, at Lorain library, where we worked on how to write a one woman show, leaning the basics on how to write an engaging plot, hook, character, dialogue and monologue.
I was so grateful to PhD students Zachary Milko and Kate Freeman, for inviting me to do a workshop at their university - Case Western Reserve Uni. on Wednesday April 9th 2025.
I recited some of my feminist poems, and feminist poems by poets who inspire me like Kamala Das, Forugh Farrokhzad, and Lucille Clifton. I also did a presentation about my feminist art, showing images of my art series: Women Working, Women Reading, "Look Closer", "God of Guns", and "For the Love of Guns."
I feel very privileged to be part of the Cleveland Public Theatre movement to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through groundbreaking performances.
Not only does CPT welcomes artists and creatives from all backgrounds and ethnicities, but also help us develop our work, and hone our stories, to create experimental, immersive, conceptual, and interactive performances that impact our Cleveland community and makes us feel heard and seen.
Late in 2024 CPT introduced Soft Launch, a festival that aims to move away from traditional theatre, and discover through daring experimental work what art can do. As a preliminary move to prepare creatives for Soft Launch, I participated in the free and thought-provoking workshop PILOT offered by Raymond Bobgan (Executive Artistic Director) where I managed to mould my piece "Awash with Guns" an installation performance piece that sheds light on America's obsession with Guns, and the epidemic of School Shootings. I'm grateful to have two talented actors: Sarah Kunchik, and Keith Kornajcik perform in my piece.
Live performance of Awash with Guns is Jan. 23-25/2025
