Another art collection I'm excited about completing is titled "Look Closer". In this collection I paint large old fashioned doors, when the viewer peers through the small keyhole they will see an act of agression carried out by a man against a woman. The aim of this project is to shed light on issues of Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment at work. There is real interaction between the viewer and the painting, as the viewer must come very close to the canvas, bend down, and peer through the tiny keyhole in order to see the fragmented image of a man hurting a woman. This is to emphasize the inaccessibility of these crimes committed against women every day. You have to "look Closer" in order to see it. Women rarely report these crimes due to feelings of shame and fear of facing more violence in the case f domestic violence, or fear of losing their jobs and thus their livelihoods in the case of sexual harassment at work. The old fashioned doors hint at how ancient this probelm is. This collection of paintings consists of ten "Doors", I've completed eight and I'm workin on the last two doors. All the paintings in this collection are Oil on Canvas and 24X36 inches in size. This collection will be exhibited at Kaiser Gallery in Feb. 2024.
