Phantom Limb

I have amputated you like a diseased dead limb

Why can't I still sleep in the middle of the bed?

شبح الطرف المبتور*

قد مضى على بترك أعوام

ولا أزال لا أنام في وسط الفراش.

*مرض شبح الطرف المبتور: حالة مرضية, يُبتر عضو من أعضاء الجسد كالذراع أو القدم لكن المريض يظل يشعر بوجود العضو المبتور و أحياناً يشعر بألم أو حكة في العضو المبتور وذلك لأن العقل لم يتقبل فقدانه.

Solitude

There is in this solitude a stability no union offers

there’s an honesty in this loneliness

a warmth that enters me gently like the seeping

heat of my morning coffee..

الوِحدة

هذه الوِحدة جميلة .. لا تخبئ وراءها ألماً

لا تفاجئنا بفراق أو أنين

  

Laughing

Laughing hysterically, a sudden bleak memory quiets us.

It is our laughter's failed attempt to surpass our sorrows..

أحياناً

أحياناً نضحك بشدة وفجأة توقفنا ذكرى مؤلمة

حاول ضحكنا أن يفوق ألمنا الشاهق ففشل

Some left us with vaster damage than others

Some left us with an irritated throat; when we

chose not to express their pettiness.      

بلعوم

هناك من تركونا بجرح يشفى و هناك من تركونا بجرح لا يشفى

 وهناك من تركونا بحرقة غريبة في البلعوم لا مرهم لها

لم نقل لهم كم هم مقززون

Show me

Show me a deprivation vaster than mine

so that I may appreciate my blessings

حرمان

لن نقنع بما نملك

حتى نرى كم هو شاسع حرمان الآخرين

Broken

The only ones drawn to her are the broken ones

compared to her

they feel whole (er)

سوى

لا ينجذب لها سوى المكسورون

حطامها يمنحهم بعض الإكتمال
